Welcome back! Last week we showed you how to make a
special "Downloads" folder (If you missed it, go to the Clinic
Library and refer to Clinic No. 4)
Now, we are going to show you how to download
a file from the internet correctly AND ask you to download an
incredibly useful program called "End It All2 "
Note: The newest version of ENDITALL2 has
recently become 'pay to use'. The links we provide later in
this clinic will access an older but identical version which
you may download and install (completely legally and above
board) for FREE. We like
'FREE'!!
THE
FIRST STEP IS TO .....
CREATE A SUB-FOLDER
A "Sub-folder" is a folder which is
created INSIDE a MAIN folder. We are going to create a
sub-folder called End It All2 - and this sub-folder is going
to be INSIDE your main Downloads folder. Here's how ...
- Open up Windows Explorer (we told you all
about this in Clinic No. 3)
- In the LEFT panel, find your 'Downloads'
folder (we showed you how to make this in Clinic No. 4)
- Hold your mouse pointer over the
'Downloads' folder in the LEFT-hand panel and LEFT-click
ONCE.
- Now, hold your mouse pointer on any blank
area in the RIGHT hand panel and ...
- RIGHT-click your mouse once.
- A menu pops up. Carefully move your
mouse-pointer over the word 'New' Hold it there ....
- Another menu pops up. Move your
mouse-pointer right to the top and click on the word
'Folder'
- A new folder is created in the RIGHT-hand
panel .... it looks like this :
 |
Now ... type the words
'End It All2', then left-click your mouse on any blank
(white) area. |
GREAT! YOU HAVE CREATED A SUB-FOLDER UNDER THE MAIN
DOWNLOADS FOLDER.
Now rename it
'ENDITALL2' as instructed in Clinic 4
NOW .... LET'S GET DOWN TO

WELL DONE! You have now
downloaded the program "End It All 2" INTO your End It All 2
folder inside your Downloads folder!
If you want to double-check on
this, open up Windows Explorer and in the LEFT panel, find
your "Downloads" folder. You will see it now has a little
sign next
to it.
Click once on this "+" sign and your
Downloads folder expands, showing all the sub-folders
beneath it. Now, still in the Left-hand panel, Left-click
once on your "End It All2 " folder.
And there .... in the RIGHT hand panel, you
will see your downloaded file :
enditall2.zip
NEXT WEEK WE WILL SHOW YOU HOW TO INSTALL
AND USE THE END IT ALL2 PROGRAM.
It is a VERY useful program to have. It should be
used before installing programs, before making registry
back-ups, before using Scandisk, before Defragmenting your
hard-drive etc. We will be using it often in future Clinics
- so please get it !
Although all the above may appear
complicated .... it really isn't! The best way to learn is
to DO IT! FIRST make your "End It All" folder and THEN read
through the "How to download" steps a few times. If you are
on a dial-up connection and want to save money---and read
through all of this in your own time, without being
connected to the internet---then SAVE this whole web-page as
a single file and study it at your own pace. (Full details
are in Clinic No. 2)
O.K. Let's go for it ! HAVE
YOU MADE YOUR "End It All2" sub-folder ?
