Once again I will say SAVE all your code and site complete, on your PC and or CD.
Copy and save it again then edit this copy never the original. Then upload the updated files when all works OK Never, never ever edit or delete anything on the server, without a working backup copy on your PC. A member did it this week and corrupted all the page links, then made it worse by trying to correct it on the server. He had no backup of his working website, result is he has lost half the website and graphics. So he will have to replace all the lost code pages and graphics, to restore his website. Just by saving his website to his PC would have saved his website and all the work put into it. As a result all that work has to be done again. A very hard lesson indeed, so SAVE all your website first, before doing any editing or deleting.

Wise words indeed. Save it.... and back it up as well!
Like most people, I do all my sites on my home computer, and test everything before I even think of uploading to the web server. Any subsequent changes are done on my home computer as well, then up loaded where they'll replace the old files on the server. Everything is also backed up here on an external hard drive. You work hard on your sites, don't risk losing them. Same advice applies to your images. If you do any optimising or altering of photos for the internet... work on a COPY of your original. Keep your originals safe and backed up.
