:?
Is there anyone out there who can give me some advice on formulating my own web site.
I can just about work my way around the easy side of a computor, but making my own web site is beyond me.
I know there are businesses out there that could do it for me, but I have been quoted some silly prices for the priviledge..
Thank you in advance

Raydar. :?

Hi raydar and welcome.
First off do you want to do it your self, it is easyer than you think.
Sarah, Skyrunner and myself can assist you in all stages.
For a start go to the IDF Archives, link at top of page, and look and read through the info in the free webspace section (far right).
Also visit the free webspace room, all post in this room are relivent to website building as well as the info in here.
Everything for building your own website is covered in the above.
You build your website on your own PC first you dont need webspace to do it, until its ready to upload.

Hello raydar,
Thanks for the that.
The reason for asking was because if you were using Wanadoo, which you are I may be able to point you in the right direction if you want to start out real simple and I mean real simple and free.
Example:http://taks.mysite.wanadoo-members.co.uk/
If it's something more advanced then I'm afraid I'm not your man, thats where CPS and Skyrunner come in, it was they with some others who helped me along the learning curve of web building.
What is it you want to do, and are you into writing HTML code in say Notebook or are you going to use a "WYSIWYG" (what you see is what you get program) like Frontpage?
Let us know.

Regards,
Tezzer.

Hi Tezzer,
My wife and I organise a classic and vintage vehicle rally each year in memory of our son Darren who we lost in a road accident six years ago.
Now that we are getting bigger each year, we would like to let more of the country what we are doing in the hope that we may get more entrants.
It does'nt have to be too elaborite, just somthing that catches the eye and gives relevant information.
Regards
Ray

Tezzer just looked around all three sites, very nice work indeed.
If anyone want to see them, use the links from one site to the others.

Note
This is where a directory page comes in handy if you have more than one site.
You make the directory the main index file, all it does is contain the links with a description to the other sites.
In each site you include a link back to the directory page, my own three sites uses a directory page,
as an example of what I mean by a directory page.

Hello raydar,
For a very simple and free easy to do website you can use the free space provided by Wanadoo.
Go to your Wanadoo home page and click on Build a Website, it's on the left in the grey boxes.
Where it's got Free Tools for Home Users click on Build a Website for Free (underneath the picture of the couple).
Once there click on Register and give some details.
Once you have registered all the information is there to help you construct a simple but effective website.
I hope this is helpful to you, it's where I got started.
If you want something more elaborate then I'm sure you will get as much help as you want from our resident mods.

Regards,
Tezzer.

raydar, you already have the first step in place, you know what you want to put on your website, what you want the site to be about.

So as soon as you are ready to move on this, your next step is to get all your content written, and any photos prepared. We can certainly all help you put it all together and get it on the internet.
