The question I am going to ask, I know I have done it in the dark and distant past, but can't for the life of me remember how to do it now, so can anyone help.
I want to do some Stained Glass in PSP7. Now I know how to flood fill, thats not the problem. I want a pattern on it. I have clicked on Patterns on the right hand side of PSP and there are aleady some patterns in the computer, but I want to download some zip files of some really fantastic patterns that I have got off the web. They are in jpeg form, but I have noticed that the ones already on the computer are Bitmaps. I have downloaded a few of them and although when I open PSP I can have a look at them from there, I still can't open them from the Patterns on the right, I still get just the ones tha came with the computer. And if I have to change them first to Bitmaps, and I aren't sure that you have to do this, then how do you do it?

Hello Marion,
I copied this from http://www.psphelp.com/index_v7.php Any image that you have open in your workspace at the time will appear at the top of the Pattern Browser window. This is how you can flood fill with your own Patterns, even if they are not loaded in the PSP Patterns folder. The Patterns folder can usually be found at C:\Program Files\Jasc Software Inc\Paint Shop Pro 7\Patterns. Only bitmap (.bmp) images will appear in the Patterns Browser if loaded into the PSP Patterns folder. Any other file format can be used as a Pattern by opening them in PSP and selecting them in the Pattern browser.

All you have to do is open your JPEG in PSP then click 'File' > 'Save As' and save a version as a BMP file. You will need to change the 'Save As Type' box to BMP. Then you will likely need to drag & drop them into whatever folder all the other patterns are in.

Hi Marion
I'm not that familiar with PSP, but I would expect it works in a similar way to other image editing programs. In the little floating palette where you select your pattern, there's probably an option to Browse. Use that to navigate to where you've stored your own patterns, and select the one you want to use. If yours are jpegs, don't think you'd have a problem using them, a jpeg is a type of bitmapl. |
