I made this in PSP. It looks fine here - but when I printed it off, the nose and surrounding area - and one eye - come out almost red.
Is there any way I can get rid of that. Or will I have to find another photo of a Westie? I have already tried with another similar - with much the same result.

Are you sure that all your ink capsules (for want of a better word) are full. Yhos can sometimes happen if one of the colours are empty.. What printer are you using ??

Check your ink levels as serpico suggested also run a nozzle check and clean if necessary.
Again we need to know the printer make you are using, going by your picture, the nose is dark almost black so check the black cartridge particularly. There could be one or more jets blocked, can you see any lines in that red area.

That is what it was, gentlemen - the black must have been blocked. I hadn't thought of it being the inks, as they are new cartridges. I have cleaned the head, and the picture has now printed perfectly. Many thanks for your help.
