Hi all, i have never posted here before !, i usually visit the computer room.
I have a nice wallpaper on this particular web site of mine, i need to put on the page a Phone number and Fax number each in a seperate JPG or Gif file, and i need the wallpaper to show through, which i think means it needs to be transparent !. It so happens that i have made one button JUST RIGHT for what i want/need, so i come to make another button with the the FAX number in it and i cant remeber how i made the button withthe phone number, silly isnt it I know !. So what software should i be using to do this more easily, i have PSP v7 and MS paint and more recently Xara webstyle v4, i cant find how to make the dammed button transparent !!!. HELP please I know somebody is saying why not have the phone/fax number as normal text, it would be easier, well i thought of that, i have heard that there are nasty people around that look for stuff like phone numbers as text in web pages and then do lots of silly things with these numbers !.

OK peter, thanks for that, i should be OK now, thanks to skyrunner, i will see if i can do that in PSP ?.
Later:- i have now succesfully done it, thanks for the inspiration. I only have Paint Shop Pro, so it is a little different to the programs that skyrunner used for her explanation. So i waded through the help files of PSP and found that the easiest way to get a tranparent background, is to create the image with the text you need, then file/export/gif optimiser and there you can select how transparent you need it. www.tandrcabinetry.co.uk i know the content of that website is non-existent, my boss is very slow at giving me content !!!.

Only works with a gif though, jpeg don't do transparency. "Discerning Dentist" eh? |

but you have used the phone and fax numbers, as the names for the gif images in the code. To me that defeats the object of using a gif image as per quote. I would use phone.gif and fax.gif in the code and rename the gif image files accordingly.

Peter you are spot on with your observation there, i am more than a bit silly there, i shall put it right straightaway, thanks.
like you say it defeats the object of doing that way, assuming of course that i had the right reason for doing it that way in the first place, LOL.
