Default Crog85 (Bob)

I have just heard this morning that Bob passed away peacefully in the night. He had been very ill the last month or so and for his sake I am glad it is all over.

I know he would like me to tell you how much he relied on IDF. He used to spent hours on it and it was through the Photography Forum that I got to know him. I shall miss him.

Sorry to hear of Crog 85's death. I didn't know him but I admired his photographic skills. I hope his dying was gentle.

So sorry to hear of his death. I hope I can still turn out pictures of his quality when I'm 85+. I didn't know him but I know he was loved by many on this site.

Sarah

Very sad news although not unexpected as I know Bob has been ill for a long time and I also know you have been phoning Bob regularly and supporting him through his illness

Bob has been a real stalwart and part of IDF50 since the very early days. As Sarah has mentioned he spent hours on the site especially in the Photography Forum and he was a very accomplished photographer.

Bob was in the Royal Marines during the war, he was at Dunkirk and part of the D Day landings. I asked Bob on a number of occasions if he would write about his war service for the site but he was reluctant to do so, I think it brought back too many sad moments for him.

Bob often used to send me supportive notes if I had any problems on the site, he loved the place. We also used to chat about the North East, my father in law was a geordie,I have visited many times but unfortunately never met Bob.

A very sad day for IDF50.

Crog's 88th birthday would have been on the 17th of October. I think many of us were looking forward to sending him our best wishes.

Crog has been a very familiar sight on this forum for a very long time and I'm sure he will be missed by many of us.

My condolences to all who will miss an exceptional member of the forum. An especial thanks to Sarah for the additional attention she gave a forum member. I'm sure that was a comfort to both Crog and his family.
