It's going to look odd now because my message has just gone
Did you notice that you need to confirm the deletion ? You may need to scroll down to reach that point

In your screen shot click the third grey button marked "Delete".
You will then be presented with option to delete or not.
"Do Not Delete Message" or "Delete Message",
Click the circle for delete message,
then click the now active "Delete this message" button.

after discussion with admin, for others' info...it seems that the delete option is available in any entry BUT the first one on any thread ..................even if that is the only entry on that thread

This is one of a class of bugs known as a boundary error. There is no excuse for the system testers to have missed it. Unless it is a design feature of course.

Chris

For the last two weeks its been more than a full time job importing then tidying up old records to the new site. Prior to opening the site to all members the new site was tested by the moderators for a period of time.

Transferring old records - some were at least six years old from one database and system to a new database and different set up was bound to throw up a few gremlins and it has. We expected to have problems with duplicate ID's and Orphans - records with nowhere to go. And despite all the testing we undertook, there was no way we could check everyones username/password etc or duplicate what would happen when the new board was opened to everyone.

We have had one or two serious problems that hopefully are now settling down and at the moment the delete facility is not high on my list of priorities. I believe that is how this board is designed -members have full delete facilities for all posts except the thread starter. I believe the thinking behind it is that if someone deleted the first post in a thread the posts that followed would be meaningless - risk/balance issue.

As I have said it is not on high on my agenda at the moment but when I get time I will look at it. Most of the comments I have received about the new board have been favourable but there are bound to be aspects that members preferred about the old board.
