Default replying to topics;topic is not there when you log in

a comment if I may?

I have noticed that ,if you view the forum logged out and click the 'post a reply' tab, when you then log in you are told that you have not specified a topic (although you did when you clicked the 'post a reply tab)and you have to search the forum for the thread you were looking at

on other forums I belong to , if you have been checking a thread as a guest ,when you press the 'post a reply tab' you are presented with the log in screan , and, once logged in you are taken straight to the topic thread you were looking at to post your reply;

??can that be arranged on this forum's board set-up? :?:

You cannot access the board to reply to a specific post when logged out.
If you do so the log in screen is displayed, you sign in,
then you get the screen you mentioned "you have not specified a topic".
As a member why don't you just log in and view the forum,
then select the post of interest and then select reply.
That's how it works on IDF, you have to log in first.
So I don't see any reason why that should change,
when all you have to do is log in to start with.
Problem solved

Hilda,

Had you been around for a while, you would have noticed the devil of a time we've had with unauthorized Guests and their antics causing enough grief to close us down.
Consequently, steps have been taken to minimize the possibility of that continuing to happen.

Other forums have had their own experiences (or not), of course---and therefore have chosen their policies accordingly.
Also, they may be operating on a different type of forum board altogether....with theirs offering options ours does not.

As CPS said, if it is a sequential thing, then following the 'preferred' sequence will solve the problem.
We feel the minor inconvenience of having to make a few more mouse clicks is small enough price to pay for a tad more security.

Hope this helps.

Kas

I was really only making a passing comment; and the admin team seem to have enough work dealing with the spammers too, of whom in my short time here I have noticed several

you need to keep the board 'clean' and hopefully we can ALL help with that
