    Default USB Ports

    Hello
I plugged an external hard drive into my P/C and got a message something like "not enough power to run this device so port is shutting down".
Now none of my USB ports work.
All else on the P/C is fine.
Has the computer disabled them or have I blown the UP.
    How do I tell?

You may want to try a powered usb hub that should solve it.

    Grumps,

    Try a hard reset:
    1. Shut down the PC.
    2. Unplug the power lead from the wall socket.
    3. Press the power on button on the front panel and hold it for a couple of seconds. The power LED may light up briefly and then fade out and a fan may whirr for a second or two.
    4. Repower the PC and boot up to check the USB ports.

I had the same USB problem on my previous PC. If BRG's suggstion does not work, do what I was advised .
Shut down, unplug every thing from the PC, including the mains plug.
Leave the PC overnight, plug everything back in and boot up. Hopefully it will work.
I believe it is a problem with a capacitor not discharging correctly.
