This caught my eye:
British sportswear retailer JJB Sports on Monday said sales fell significantly short of expectations for the crucial second quarter, sending its shares down 27%.
We don't have to look very far to wonder why this should be! It's all weather related, many people are disinclined to go jogging or whatever else floats their boat, when it's teeming down.
Up to now, this year, we have had precisely ONE barbecue, whereas in previous years, it was fired up maybe a couple of times a week, from March onwards. Major supermarkets will not have sold much charcoal or other barbecue related products - and the summer clothes sales will have fallen off the cliff, perhaps slightly offset by sales of galoshes, anoraks, raincoats and umbrellas.
However, the major effect must be on our tourism industry, I can see this year putting quite a lot of people in that industry, out of business. Come on jet stream. SHIFT! In the right direction of course.
