Default Off again in the morning.

I'm off on a weekend trip, Leading the North London Honda Owners Club for a little jaunt in Belgium.
We're on the 09:20 Eurotunnel train, stopping off in Adenkirke to stock up on smokes, then on to our hotel in Oudenburg (Bikers only).
We'll be visiting Poperinge, Dixmuide, and attending the Last Post Ceremony at the Menin Gate in Ypres tomorrow evening.
On Sunday, weather permitting, we'll spend the day in Bruges, hopefully going on a canal cruise.
Looking forward to enjoying some of those wonderful dark Belgian beers on Saturday night at the hotel, and should be back in London on Sunday evening in time to go to the pub!

They know how to treat bikers over there!

    Have you been before?

Belgium's generally reckoned not to have much going for it, but I've never met a Belgian, be it man, woman or child, who wasn't absolutely charming.

Back in the eighties, long before the Euro, you could go into many premises in Belgium and present virtually any European currency.

They all had tiils which did the necessary conversion, and you got your change in local or any other currency, provided they had enough of it.

I have no doubt the exchange rate used was not the same as the local Bureau, but it was very convenient.

Got back on Sunday evening from our Belgian weekend.
But oh boy! Did it rain or did it rain? NO - it just came down in stair rods!
Apart from the weather, the only problem we had was going out on Eurotunnel. The train was loaded, then they informed us it had broken down. They left us on there for an hour, before they decided that they couldn't fix it and we would have to transfer to another train.
That meant that we arrived in Calais an hour and a half late, so we had to shorten our itinery.
Rode up to Adinkerke and stocked up on smokes, had lunch there and went straight to the Bikers Loft. After booking in we went to Ypres and attended the Last Post Ceremony, then had dinner before returning to the Loft for a few well earned beers.
Woke up on Sunday to yet more pouring rain, it eventually cleared by 11 so we went to Bruges and pretended to be tourists. What a beautiful city. I've been there a couple of times before, but the other 7 members hadn't been, they all fell in love with it and want to return.
So, despite the weather, a successful outing, and my Hein Gericke clobber didn't let in one drop of water.
And yes, I got home in time to go to the pub!

So glad you got to see what you did see - and that you enjoyed it. There was a lot of rain on my recent trip and it does affect 'things,' doesn't it!
