    Default Our NHS

Mrs "ET" had a full hip replacement last Wednesday I took her to the 'local' hospital (16 miles !!) by 07.30 she was first on list at 09.00 all went well and was back in the ward when I visited at 16.00 sitting up pain free etc
She was able to leave on Saturday 14.00 but while all was arranged for discharge when I called for her apologies there is one tablet she needs we have given her 3 to last till Tuesday when I must call to collect the balance Sorry but the Pharmacy closes at 12.00 on a Saturday!! This is not some Cottage Hospital but a big one So excellent service spoilt by the pharmacy!!

BTW home now and doing well

Wishing Mrs ET a speedy and excellent recovery.

Our Main Hospital has a Lloyds Chemist in addition to the hospital's own pharmacy which make the discharge scrip, if necessary, very quick.

ET - I am glad everything went so well and very best wishes to Lady ET, for a speedy and comfortable recovery. You are absolutely right, seems strange that large hospitals do not have seven day pharmacy services, given that staff have to be there.

Could you have collected the script at your local pharmacy?

I had a similar experience - lack of drugs because I forgot to collect them! YG sent a taxi to the hospital to pick them up.

Our hospital has a large pharmacy at the main entrance but the Oncology Dept has it's own pharmacy. When I go for treatment I pick the drugs up the minute I get there. They are always ready because the prescription is passed to the pharmacy after my assessment visit 2 days before. It works well!

ET - really unacceptable to put you to so much trouble, especially at this time.

Absolutely crazy to have the most expensive and technologically advanced hospitals and then leave patients without essential medications.
