Have not been on one Paul, but you might find a nice rich widow
I love cruising, would think you would be OK on your own.

I've been on two cruises (on my own). They are not the cheapest but, judging by my two, give good value.
People are mostly friendly, and there were quite a few males on their own. More, as far as I could make out, than females. I didn't actually speak to many people, being profoundly deaf, and one can't really expect anyone, especially strangers, to struggle with making themselves understood. But the atmosphere is pleasant, and you tend to find the same kind of people on these cruises. You may find it a bit boring, because no one seemed to get drunk, or in any other way, well, whatever. But if you like people mixing in a pleasant way, you should like it.
