Default Coleton Fishacre

This is a National Trust property between Brixham and Dartmouth in South Devon built by the D'Oyle Carte family in the 1920s. It was designed by a protoge of Lutyens.

Has been furnished with original pieces and new furniture made by studying photographs taken in the early life of the property

I have painted this in Watercolour on Saunders Waterford 300g rough paper and it is 20" X15"

Have you ever sold any Alan? They're certainly good enough.

I wish I could paint, at least something which would look halfway decent and not like the efforts of a six year old! ....

I have sold a few paintings, mainly pastels of dogs, but most I have given to my children, or hung on our own walls.

The main requirement of learning to paint is wanting to.

If you really want to learn find out whether your local council have any classes, most of them do, and you would meet like minded people.

Don't be put off by the fact that you can't do it,neither could anyone else until they tried, and had some instruction.

Don't listen to the people that say "Buy cheap paints and paper and brushes, in case you don't like it"

I will guarantee you won't like the results, and you will blame yourself.

There is no need to spend a fortune, but spend it wisely. If I can give any advice just ask.

Go for it, and you will get as much pleasure as I do.

Is it just my eyes, or is it a little blurred?

I just feel that I would love to be sitting out there, in complete solitude and isolation.
Well done, Alan.

It was painted from a photograph. Unfortunately when we were there a couple of weeks ago it was pouring with rain and we couldn't walk in the gardens.

DD The photoon here may look a little blurred but that is my poor photography not the painting

Yes, I gathered that, Alan. Because your paintings are certainly never poor.
