Joel I would personally hesitate to tell ou how to improve it, for one thing it is a very good effort for not having a subject to copy from, and another, it is a little too small to see and give any constructive suggestions.

However if I were doing it, mabe I would try and get more of a circular arraingement with the flowers, or even triangular, and perhaps try and get a little more shading to give them depth, but I do think it is a pretty picture anyway.

When I am trying to decide on ways to improve a picture, I face it towards to wall for a day or two and then take another look, that way I look at it with a fresher eye. another trick is to look at from upside down, or even through a mirror

Thank you FF for your advice. I was unsure whether to add some taller flowers at the back to give some height but a bit scared to do them and it look worse

Well, I must say, I love it, Joelle, especially that little bit of blue you put under vase.... what size is it? Can't tell by looking at it?

Thank you Maggie, glad you like it. I was advised that it might look better with less background, so I cropped it, what do you think@

I like it, Joelle - and notice it's pink at the bottom, not blue - well, I like it -
both ways. What size is it now - the actual size of the work? This isn't a digital piece, is it?

No Maggie, not digital, water colour. The size of the actual painting is 7 inches by five.

Joelle, this is a nice painting and as such doesn't need a lot of improvement. One comment I have is that the shadow is a bit random and does not follow the flowers or the pot.
