You asked for advice Jeannie

My only advice on this painting would be leave some white paper.

Decide which side the light is coming from and leave some white on the petals on that side of the flower

Alan - wouldn't think of leaving white paper - difficult as my pictures evolve from somewhere and are not planned. I only thought of adding white afterwards - thanks for the tip.
