Default Lunch With Kingy

Lunch with Kingy

The following are just suggestions, I am easy on venue or time if anyone has any other ideas or preferences.

Date: either 19th or 26th July - please give preference and we have to tie in with Kingy and her arrangements.

Venue: As I have said I am open to ideas but just a suggestion:
RSJ Restaurant
33 Coin Street
London
SE1 9NR

I have been there a few times in the past and I have found it good value for London. They do a set 3 course lunch for £18.95 and I believe 2 courses for £15.95.

It is about a 5 - 10 minute walk from Waterloo Station on the corner of Stamford Street and Coin Street. Stamford Street runs parallel with the Southbank.

I like Southbank it has really come on over recent years, besides being a nice walk by the Thames with a fabulous view across to the City, it has a number of attractions.

The Southbank centre which includes the Festival Hall and the Hayward Gallery has recently been re-opened following a major renovation.

The British Film Institute (BFI) is just a bit further along Southbank. Normally a book fair being held outside the BFI, walk through the cafe/bar in the front of the BFI, through the glass doors, turn right and keep going and you will eventually come to the main cafe/restaurant and also the book shop. Great place to browse especially if you like movies. Nice place for a coffee also a possibility for our lunch venue.

Other things to do/see along southbank include The National Theatre (besides 3 theatres, talks and free music normally at the weekend) Shakespeares Globe Theatre, Tate Modern and the wobbly bridge across to St.Pauls. Or as I have said it's just nice walking along the Thames and at the weekend there are normally some brilliant buskers under the Hungerford Bridge(Jubilee Bridge).

A few ideas so that you can either work up an appetite or work off your lunch - web links below:
RSJ's Restaurant
Southbank Centre
BFI
The National Theatre/
Shakespeares Globe
Tate Modern/
/Millennium(Wobbly)Bridge

Just spoken with Kingy at her sisters in Welling, she's fine though her husband wasn't too well on the flight but a lot better today. Think they had a pig of a journey, first flight delayed and then they missed a connection.

I didn't realise it but Kingy is over here for about 3 months - goes back in September. This gets me out of a tight spot regarding the lunch. I could have made this coming Saturday at a pinch but Lady IDF had me sorted for the 26th. I knew my grandson was being christened on the 27th but I didn't know everyone was coming to us the day before - then we are away for about 10 days.

So I have arranged and its fine with Kingy that we'll have the lunch in August. I have pencilled in Saturday 16th August - How does that fit?

That's a better date for me Graham. Not sure what others think but lunch sounds a bit dear when combined with travel costs.

Open to any ideas you have, I don't think you will get much cheaper in London, might be possible to arrange it nearer to you. I know Kingy has sorted a car out for while she is over here and I don't mind driving upto your neck of the woods.

Hi guy's, we went to the Tate in the week and thoroughly enjoyed it..they also had a nice place there for lunch etc..
As Graham said we have bought a car which gets us about even though I dont like driving in this traffic, it has changed so much since we were here last..
I think somewhere in London would be ideal to meet up..!!
We are going to Devon this week to see rellies and next week
to my brother's at Norfolk, never been there before...

Red face

Oh dear I have to hold my hands up here.
Kingy, I am sorry to say that I only read Grahams first posting about a meeting in London and realising that it was a bit far for me and the missus to travel I never read any more.
So i have just read on and found out that you were in Norfolk in September, DOH!

If you get a chance to visit Norfolk again while you are over here we would be very happy to meet you for lunch or similar.
Humble appologies.
Eddyo and Fatfairy.
